MBALE CITY

Mbale City Authorities have today 21st July, 2022 launched an operation nicknamed “Operation City order”.

In this operation, the authorities are targeting Boda Boda riders who don’t operate from gazetted stages and hawkers.

Mr. James Kutosi the Public Relations Officer for Mbale city said City enforcement officers will carry out routine inspections in town every day and those Boda Boda riders who will be found parked at nongazzeted stages and hawkers will be arrested.

“ We want to put the city in order as one way of reclaiming the lost glory of Mbale town.” He said.

He called upon hawkers and Boda Boda riders to operate from their gazetted places such that they don’t fall victims.

Mr. Samuel Mandu, one of the Boda Boda riders operating at the regional block stage has welcomed the move but adds that city authorities should have started with allocating stages for Bodaboda because most Boda Boda riders don’t have stages..

Mr. Andrew Mugamba, a Hawker says that Mbale city should not phase them out of the city because they also have families to look after.
