SAD! How Power Outage Gets Katakwi Businessman Electrocuted To Death

A renowned Katakwi district businessman has been electrocuted to death after power came back suddenly when he was connecting a generator.

 

The deceased, Ogongeat Simon Peter who was electrocuted on Sunday, 14/08/2022 at around 9:00PM at Ocorimongin trading center, Katakwi district was finally pronounced dead yesterday, 15th August at Katakwi district hospital.

 

According to a statement issued by the Spokesperson for East Kyoga Territorial Police, SP Ageca Oscar Greggory, the deceased was operating a video show at the trading Center then there was a black out of power.

 

The deceased then decided to connect a generator to enable the show continue, unfortunately electric power from the national grid was shortly turned on.

 

 

“The power came back on as he held live wires leaving him electrified with electric wires as he was in direct contact with them, thereafter, he fell down before his neighbors came to his rescue, switched off power and was rushed to Katakwi general hospital,” the police statement reads.

 

Ageca also told the press that a team of detectives and scene of crime officers visited the scene of incident, as Inquiries into the matter continue on file vide CRB 337/2022.

 

“We would like to inform the general public that use electricity on a daily basis and any appliance running on electricity that if it isn’t used properly, it can prove to be an extremely dangerous element. If live electricity touches you or any conductive material, an electric shock can occur that might kill you”,Ageca added in a statement.

 

He further implored individuals to seek proper guidance on how to use and shut down electrical appliances and equipment to prevent electric shock that can occur when they touch live wiring.
