Police name Bulambuli Kadodi dancers killed on Bulambuli-Kapchorwa road

Police has named the five people who were knocked dead after a speeding taxi rammed into them at Bulambuli district along the Kapchorwa-Bulambuli highway.

These were part of a large group that was dancing to Kadodi, a cultural ritual dance for the Bagisu circumcision ceremony.

Mr Rogers Taitika the Elgon region police spokesperson said a tailor no. UAX 813U and UAZ 997A Sino Truck both were heading to Mbale from Kapchorwa rammed into Kadodi dancers along Kapchorwa Bulambuli high way at Sarajevo village, Buyaka parish Muyembe Sub County in Bulambuli district killing five people on spot and critically injuring seven.

Mr Taitika named the deceased as Easther  Nagudi,16, from Namika village, Umaru Wanjala, 19, from Bumasala cell, Bwikonge ward, William Wepukhulu, 17, Songo cell, Muyembe, Joab Natsomi, 14, from Butta and while the fifth was yet to be identified.

Police also named those in critical conditions at Muyembe health center IV Kevin Wanda, Leonard Masaba, Isaac Wadenga, and Job Masobi.

Mr Taitika said the deceased and injured were part of a group that was dancing to Kadodi, a cultural ritual dance for the Bagisu circumcision ceremony.

This comes barely two weeks after the launch of the Imbalu season when the police asked the revelers to respect other road users and be disciplined.

PAST ACCIDENTS

In 2018, 10 died, and scores were injured after a truck rammed into Kadodi dancers at Wakisi Village, Wakisi Sub County in Njeru Municipality, Buikwe District.

In 2006, seven people died and 11 were seriously injured when a bus rammed into a party of Kadodi dancers on the Iganga-Mbale highway.
