Bulambuli Landslide Kills One, Buries Animals & Crops

One person has been confirmed dead after being buried by a landslide which hit four sub counties in Bulambuli district.


The resident of Sasa Village, Bumasobo Sub County only identified as Mako got buried yesterday, 11th September while tending to his garden.


According to Geoffrey Bayola, the Resident District Commissioner of Bulambuli district, the affected sub counties are Bumasobo, Soti, Simpondo and Buluganya.


He told this website that the landslide happened yesterday afternoon after a heavy downpour which lasted two days beginning Saturday 10th September 2022.


Charles Wasika, the LCI chairperson of Sasa village from Bumasobo Sub County confirmed to this website that Mako was buried by the landslide while at his garden in the afternoon.


Emmanuel Masuba, one of the area residents, says that other properties which have been buried by the landslide are animals, crops like tomatoes, cabbage, and coffee.


He urged government to evacuate people living in the area since they are at risk of being buried by more landslides as rains continue.
