Four cattle thieves have this morning, 16th September 2022 been killed by an angry mob after they were caught with two stolen bulls.
According to the Sipi regional police spokesperson, Fredmark Chesang, the incident happened in Kaptererwo Sub County in Bukwo district.
Earlier reports had indicated that it was one unidentified cattle thief that died on the spot while the other three were critically injured and taken to hospital. Chesang has however, confirmed that even the other three died while in hospital.
“One was killed on the spot while the other three died in hospital where they had been rushed to in critical condition,” Chesang told this reporter on phone.
Chesang says that although the real identities of the deceased are not yet known, two are Pokots from Kenya while the other two are locals from Bukwo district.
Chesanga also says that the four stole 2 animals belonging to Wilfred Suwa, a resident who made an alarm attracting neighbours who responded with pangas, stones, sticks, and bricks. The mob chased the thugs and got them before lynching them.
The PRO however, warns the public against taking the law in their hands saying that it makes it harder for the police to punish law breakers.
