Police in Namisindwa district has arrested a 29 year old man for attempting to murder his father because he refused to give him a piece of land to sell.

The suspect identified as Saul Masibo, a resident of Buwambwa village, Busukuya parish, Namboko Sub County in Namisindwa district was arrested this morning, 19th September 2022.

According to Safu Sitsangi, one of the area residents, Masibo picked a quarrel with his father identified as Paulo Muzaru Nyanya this morning after the latter refused to allow him sell land in order to buy a boda boda motorcycle.

He told this website that the angry son who was also high on marijuana then picked a panga and wrestled down his father with the intention of slitting his throat but was only saved by neighbors.

Paulo Muzaru, the LCI chairperson of Buwambwa village says that Masibo acted under influence of drugs.

He adds that Masibo and other colleagues have been smoking marijuana full time although he has been trying to warn them.

Nicholas Kituno, the LCIII chairperson of Namboko Sub County says that cases of drug abuse and idleness among youths in his Sub County are increasing which calls for quick response from government.

He revealed that most youths in his Sub County have gardens of marijuana which they smoke and also export to neighboring Kenya.

However, Fredrick Bango, the Resident District Commissioner of Namisindwa district has confirmed the incident saying that the suspect is at Namisindwa central police station.

He adds that they are planning to use police and local leaders to arrest all people in the district growing marijuana as a way of reducing such cases.
