Former Bukedea Woman Member of Parliament has again emerged the most popular East Africa Legislative Assembly (EALA) representative.

In the elections that took place yesterday, 29th September, 2022 in the parliamentary chambers, the former Minister for Internal Affairs came on top with 422 votes.

In the 2017 EALA elections, Akol again topped the count after garnering 379 votes out of about 397, a feat she has repeated with almost the same margin.

In yesterday’s elections, Akol was followed by Namara Dennis who got 415, Kakooza James (405), George Odongo (403), and Musamali Paul (401).

The Independent candidate who got the highest votes and followed NRM’s Musamali was Veronica Kadogo with 383 closely followed by Mary Mugyenyi also of NRM.

The list of successful candidates was wrapped up by independent Amongin Jacquiline, former Woman MP Ngora who garnered 338 and DP’s Gerald Siranda with 233.

In what looks like a freezing of major opposition political parties, FDC, UPC and JEEMA candidates all flopped with FDC’s Kaija Harold Scandrone only managing 99 votes, UPC’s Ebil Fred 139 while Jeema’s Kateregga Mohamed got 36 votes only.

Other Independents performed as follows: Agaba Gilbert (210); Ategeka Moses (4); Bukyana Julius (8); Bwengye Lauben Muhangi (5) Kapyata Dennis (9); Kiryowa Stella (27); Lolem Josephine (11); Kisembo Ronex Tendo (6); Luyinda Fred (5); Murangira Ambrose (181); Muwonge Mugwanya Daniel (4)

Others are: Muyinda Allan Stanley (4); Naamara Patience Tumwesigye (35); Nakitende Salaama Adelaide (6); Rwandarugali Phiona (23); Tindyebwa Joseph (22).
