MBALE CITY

The Uganda Kings & Cultural Leaders Forum has volunteered to mediate between the two claimants to the vacant Umukuka position that has paralyzed the Inzu Ya Masaba Cultural Institution for two years.

This was revealed in the Inzu Ya Masaba press statement released yesterday, 1st November, 2022 and signed off by Geoffrey Wilson Wepondi as the Secretary General, Inzu Ya Masaba.

According to the press statement, the mediation effort will be led by the chairperson of Uganda Kings and Cultural Leaders Forum, His Highness Isebaruuli, the King of Buruuli, Izonzi Mwogeza Butamanya.

The mediation follows a reconciliatory meeting between Wagabyalile and Mudoma that took place on the 12th October, 2022 at Buruuli Kingdom Palace in Nakasongola.

The mediation will take place in a series of meetings starting Friday, 4th November, 2022 with the Isebaruuli meeting the two Principals; John Amuramu Wagabyalile and Mike Mudoma.

On Saturday, the mediation team shall then meet John Amuramu Wagabyalile and the delegates that elected him. This will be followed by a meeting between the Isebaruuli and Mike Mudoma who is expected to be accompanied by the delegates that elected him on Sunday.

The team shall then wind up with a meeting of the Joint General Assembly on Monday, 7th November 2022.

This latest mediation effort has been cleared by the Ministry of Gender, Labor and Social Development.

However Nelson Wedayila from the camp of Mike Mudoma has denied getting the letter by the time we went to press saying that even if they get the letter, they will not attend the meeting.

He alleges that the Isebaruuli already has a side and they can’t trust him in this mediation effort.

Wedayila also says that Masaba cultural institution has not yet been registered under Uganda Kings and Cultural Leaders Forum, so they can’t get involved in the mediation.

He adds that they want government to send a representative to be part of this mediation effort since Isebaruuli has no power to mediate.
