Kumi district has received Shs200M to construct six classroom blocks and two staff quarters at four primary schools.
The schools which are going to benefit are Oserra Primary School,(two classroom blocks), Kapikine primary school (two staff quarters), Olema primary school (two classroom blocks) and Kadama primary school with two classroom blocks.
While speaking during the groundbreaking ceremony yesterday, 22nd November, 2022 at Oserra primary school at Ongino Sub County in Kumi district, Rosemary Adongo, the Chief Administrative Officer of Kumi district said that the money was given by the district under School facility grant under ministry of education.
She said the money is already in the district account and they have got contractors who are going to start construction after the groundbreaking ceremony.
CAO also says that this money has got the status of most government aided primary schools in the district in sorry states.
Ahamed Washakie, the Kumi Resident District Commissioner cautioned the contractors against doing shoddy works.
He adds that the government is getting challenges where it allocates enough money but contractors do shoddy work with the aim of swindling.
