President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has directed that fallen Justice Ruby Opio Aweri be accorded an official funeral befitting his status.
This was revealed by the Minister In charge of the Presidency, Milly Babalanda this morning, 8th December, 2022 saying following the directive, “all arrangements are now underway.”
Justice Ruby Opio Aweri died yesterday, Wednesday, 7th December, 2022 from Mulago National Referral Hospital where he was admitted two weeks ago.
His death shocked the entire sub-region where people described him as a jolly, down-to-earth, hardworking, humble, and selfless servant. Levi Okodi, an elder brother to the late justice says the family is grieved and saddened by the death.
Aweri was born in Dokolo District in 1953, the son of the late Samwiri Opio Aweri. Aweri held a Bachelor of Laws from Makerere University, in Kampala, the largest city and capital of Uganda. He held a Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre, also in Kampala.
