Civil servants in Wakiso district are bound to go for Christmas holidays without December salary.
In an internal Memo signed by the Chief Administrative officer, Alfred Malinga, the affected staff are those in the Health department, Secondary schools and Tertiary institutions.
Malinga says the employees will not be paid December salaries because the district does not have sufficient funds.
“This serves to inform you that most of the employees in the Health Department, Secondary schools and Tertiary institutions will not receive salary for the month of December, 2022 within the dates stipulated in the Uganda Public Service Standing Orders, 2021 due to insufficient funds,” Malinga’s communication reads in part.
The affected staff according to Mr. Malinga will have to wait until Ministry of Finance releases more funds.
The affected staff seem to be in the category of those whose salaries were recently enhanced on the insistence of President Museveni. They include scientists/health workers and science teachers.
