NAMAYINGO

A notorious smuggler in Namayingo district has had his 40 days elapse today, 20th December, 2022 after URA Namayingo Enforcement team intercepted him 2.4 tons of long grain smuggled rice.
The tricky smuggler had concealed the rice under sand and even planted a branch within the sand to confuse the Enforcement team further.
“The enforcers didn’t buy because they knew better intercepting him en route to a consolidation centre in Nankoma town council,” a URA statement reads in part.
This Namayingo smuggler whose identity is not revealed was driving an Isuzu Elf Reg No UAV664R baptized City Boy.
According to the URA statement, the Driver jumped out of the Elf with the ignition key in hand and made for the bush.
“The vehicle was escorted to the Namayingo Police station where verification was executed. Offence management ensued immediately,” reads the statement.
