A Medical Doctor attached to Pallisa government Hospital has been arrested for allegedly soliciting a bribe from an expectant mother.
According to the Police Spokesperson, Fred Enanga, Dr. Naaya Jesse asked for Shs200,000 before carrying out an operation on the expectant mother who had failed to deliver normally.
“Her husband failed to raise the money, and reported the matter to the RDC Pallisa, who acted swiftly and ordered for the arrest of the suspect,” Enanga said in a statement issued on 30th January, 2023.
“As you are all aware, Doctors and Medical Practitioners have an obligation to perform their duties in an ethical and very professional manner, but as alleged, the suspect callously extorted money from an expectant mother, whose life and that of her unborn child, were a priority,” Enanga said.
