There shock was in Kween district, Sebei region on Monday, 20th February, 2023 when one of the residents was shot to death in the Park by game rangers belonging to Uganda wild authority over allegations of encroaching on parkland.
Ben Kiprop, one of the area residents identified the deceased as Robert Musani, aged 47 years from Chepkwasit sub-county in Kween district.
He adds that Musani was shot by UWA rangers while he had gone to pick local herbs to prepare and sell since he has been a herbalist.
Kiprop blamed UWA for the improper behaviors such as raping women, beating and killing people who attempt to go into the park to collect firewood, medicine, and vegetables.
Musani died at Bukwo general hospital due to bleeding where he had been taken for medication after being shot.
However, Kizza Fredrick, the UWA regional conservation manager of UWA says that the family can take the matter to courts of law to get justice.
