NUP Party President Praises Late Wameli As A Human Rights Fighter

National Unity Platform (NUP) Party president, Robert Kyakulanyi AKA Bobi Wine has described late Anthony Wameli as a person who has been fighting for rights of Ugandans.

He made these remakes on Sunday, 5th March, 2023 during the burial of the deceased at his home in Bukhaweka town council in Namisindwa district.


According to Kyakulanyi,  Wameli was a lawyer who had been representing NUP supporters and other Ugandans who have been arrested and tortured for opposing this government during and after elections of 2021.


He urged other leaders to take an example of Wameli by helping people who are being arrested innocently by the government for opposing it.


John Baptist Nambeshe, the Eastern Region Vice President of National Unity Platform party, also Member of Parliament representing Manjiya County in Bududa district also urged the party to continue demanding the release of NUP supporters who were arrested before and after 2021 general elections.

Wameli was heading the legal team of NUP and contested for Namisindwa county Member of Parliament post in2021 on NUP ticket but lost to NRM candidate Apollo Masika.


He died from America last month after battling with colon cancer.
