Busia district authorities have finally received a Warehouse, a facility constructed at Busia export zone market located in Masafu Town Council, after its completion two years ago.
The Shs1.2 billion project that was launched in 2018 was contracted to Bam Construction company limited to be constructed on part of over 180 acre piece of government land located at Masafu town council.
Bernard Wetaka, the managing director of BAM Construction Company limited said that they completed the facility in June 2021 and they have been stuck with the project for the last two years. He has been pleading with the ministry of trade officials to organize a handover but in vain. For they were done with all was needed and even the defect liability period has also elapsed.
Nassar Mukiibi, the Busia chief administrative officer-CAO said that they are going to take over responsibility of the facility and ensure they get more investors to establish more facilities on the given land meant for the construction of the export zone market.
Sam Mangeni, the Masafu town council mayor said that it’s high time district thinks about the squatters who are on part of land and also help put the facility in use to enable them generate local revenue.
Stephen Mugeni Wasike, the Busia district L.C.V chairman apologized for the delay by the contractor to handover the facility and he blamed officials from the ministry of trade for failure to organize the event.
