NAMISINDWA: Cleaner, Two Nurses Arrested Over Theft of Gov’t Drugs

A cleaner of Magale health centre III at Bumityelo Sub County in Namisindwa togetger with two nurses have been arrested on by police on orders of RDC over allegations of stealing government drugs.

 

The suspect identified as Gorge Kusuti a resident of Makunya village Makunya parish Bumityelo Sub County and two yet to be named nurses were arrested yesterday, 19th April, 2023.

 

According to Imran Muluga, the Namisindwa Resident District Commissioner, he ordered for the arrest of Kusuti after getting information that locals had caught him with government drugs.

 

He adds that he was got with two doses of Coartem malarial drugs prompting a search at his private drug shop where they got more boxes of government labelled drugs.

 

The RDC also says that they have arrested two medical workers who were on duty to help police with investigations.

 

Emma Bwayo, the Namisindwa Male Youth Councillor says drug theft in facilities affect all residents directly or indirectly. He explains that there is a need to amplify community vigilance, routine monitoring and meetings by not only health workers but all key stakeholders including politicians.

 

“Health department is key since it involves dealing with the lives of people,” Bwayo says.
