Police has reported that the rate of defilement cases from the months of January to March, 2023 has been decreasing.
This was revealed by Rogers Taitika, the Elgon Region Police Spokesperson on Monday, 24th April, 2023 while speaking to the media at his office.
Taitika says the reduction in defilement cases is due improved police community policing.
“In January, we recorded 100 cases, Feb. 89 and March 82 cases,” Taitika revealed.
He says that those cases have reduced because police have been going into the community to sensitize locals about dangers of defilement to the community and the child.
However, he urged the community to always report such cases to police such that culprits can be arrested and punished in order for others to avoid.
