The Uganda Police Force has detained the Commander of the Alert Squad in the Uganda Police for spreading false rumours that the Speaker of Parlaiment, Rt. Hon. Anita Among was to be arrested.
ACP Ashraf Chemonges was caught on video claiming that the Special Forces Command (SFC) was planning to arrest Among over the diversion of the iron sheets meant for Karamoja region.
According to Chermonges, Anita is to be arrested by SFC on orders of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni. Other sources allege that Chemonges also contacted Speaker Among’s office notifying her of the impending arrest.
The claim by Chemonges went viral on Saturday moreover at the time police was busy arresting Ministers over the same.
Anita is one of the high profile government officials who benefited from the Karacuna iron sheets. She has since returned the 500 iron sheets that she says she had distributed to needy schools in Bukedea district.
