Angry Councilors of Soroti district local government have locked out the chief administration iofficer Aggrey Winston Muramira out of office accusing him of incompetence and abuse of office.
This happened last evening, the 8th May, 2023.
Bob Owiny councilor representing Tubur Sub County said they are angered by continuous unresolved issues at the district among which include unpaid salary of newly recruited teachers, pensioners’ road gangs among others.
They say Muramira prefers operating in remote hence affecting and frustrating administration at the district.
Councilors also fault CAO for the disappearance of the vehicle meant for Education department. This they say is frustrating the education sector since there is no vehicle for monitoring.
However, an emergency meeting chaired by the local council five chairperson Simon Peter Edoru was later marred by emotions and accusations that later led to physical fight between Bob Owiny councilor representing Tubur and Councilor for Katine Sub County who also doubles as the secretary finance Samuel Eyangu.
Our independent finding indicates that the CAO in question also had similar challenges against him in the previous district of Lwengo where he served.
He is also among the list of seventy one accounting officers dropped by the ministry of public services over audit queries.
In Lwengo district where he previously served as CAO, Muramira was accused for abuse of office and conspiracy to cause financial loss to the government after sale of district property.
