The Senior Assistant Engineering Officer, Tororo District has been arraigned before the Kololo Anti-Corruption court and remanded to Luzira Prison.
Charles Malinde according to the State House Anti-Corruption Unit appeared before court today 18th May, 2023 on charges of Causing Financial Loss and Embezzlement.
According to the charge sheet, Malinde while assigned as Project Manager for the construction of Kagera bridge in Tororo Municipality in the FY 2021/22, allegedly failed to exercise his responsibility causing financial loss of over Shs16million.
Malinde is also accused of allegedly embezzling Shs3.6million meant for the Kagera bridge culverts.
He has been remanded to prison until 23rd May, 2023 when he will reappear before court and possibly ask for bail.
