UPDF has handed over the body of Private Wilson Sabiiti, who killed Minister Charles Engola, to family in Kabarole district after 21 days.
The army has reversed an earlier decision of not participating and is fully involved in the burial taking place today, 23rd May, 2023 with soldiers present to ensure a dignified farewell for Sabiiti.
The burial arrangements are underway at his ancestral home in Mubali Village, Kijura Town Council in Kabarole District- after his body was finally delivered at 5:00am Tuesday by UPDF.
Sabiiti killed himself shortly after he gunned down his principal, former State Minister for Labour, Col (Rtd) Charles Okello Engola, on May 2.
The family of Private Wilson Sabiiti had been stuck with the grave, which they dug two weeks ago.
The grave was dug last Saturday, 12th May in anticipation of the release of Sabiiti’s remains for burial.
On May 2, Pte Sabiiti shot dead State minister for Labour Col (Rtd) Charles Okello Engola before taking his own life.
