Jackson Wakweika, the Namisindwa District LCV Chairperson and Maina Fred, the secretary of finance, planning and administration, have been dragged to police for allegedly threatening to beat Zebtek Wepukhulu, the District Chairperson of NRM Elders’ league.
Zebtek Wepukhulu reported the case to Namisindwa Central Police Station under Reference Number 22/24/5/2023 on Wednesday evening, 24th May, 2023.
Wepukhulu reveals that he was attacked and harassed by the duo in front of the Resident District Commissioner, Hajji Imran Muluga and other staff at the District headquarters on Monday afternoon, 22nd May, 2023.
He explains that they accused him of questioning ongoing shoddy works on development projects across the district, including seeking accountability for road funds.
Moses Masaba Kituyi, a resident of Namisindwa, says the incident was very unfortunate, explaining that it is bad for leaders to opt for intimidation and harassment instead of explanations.
Kituyi says this is not the first time for the district leaders to violently threaten to harm their voters. He asks for thorough investigations in the matter.
Jackson Wakweika, the Namisindwa District LCV Chairperson, didn’t pick up our repeated calls.
Julie Namaara Solome, the Namisindwa Deputy RDC, declined to comment on the matter, saying it’s still under investigation.
