So far five people have been retrieved from the ground after a landslide hit Buluganya sub county in Bulambuli district yesterday,25th May, 2023.
This was revealed by Irene Nakasita, the communication officer of Red cross while speaking to our reporter in an exclusive interview on phone this afternoon, 26th May, 2023.
Yesterday at 3pm, a landslide hit Buluganya sub county in Bulambuli district killing an estimated 7 people.
According to Nakasita, locals with the help of Red Cross have since yesterday been on the ground digging to exhume bodies which were buried underground.
She says that most of the bodies have been given to their relatives for burial.
Stanley Bayola, the resident district commissioner of Bulambuli has urged people living in disaster risk areas to vacate and go to safe places as rains continue pounding the district.
He adds that other properties like houses, crops, animals were buried with yesterday’s massive land slide and that more cracks are in the neighboring areas which has put them in fear.
