NRM District chairpersons in Bugisu sub region have asked President Museveni to fulfill his previous pledges he made to the region.
The NRM leaders voiced their petition during the launch of “Museveni tovaku main” slogan in Bugisu region, a campaign aimed at endorsing Mr. Museveni for presidency in 2026 general elections.
The endorsement was hosted in Mbale city at cricket grounds on Saturday 10th June 2023, In attendance were NRM delegates, party youth leaders, Members of Parliament, District chairpersons, RDC’s and RCC’s, and Musicians from different districts of Mbale, Bududa, Manafwa, Sironko and Namisidwa.
Hon John Walimbwe, the Manafwa district NRM chairperson on behalf of other NRM delegates said Museveni pledged among other things to tarmac Kakuti road through which Museveni used to escape in 1983, resettlement of landslide victims, a public university in Bugisu and the issue of resolving traditional leadership among others.
“There are some unfulfilled pledges like the Kakuta road the special road he escaped from in 1983, the tourists roads he pledged in Masaba, we need to relocate our Bududa people who are disturbed by the land slides, a pledge of a museum in Malukhu is not yet done and also a public university in Bugisu was once promised, “says Walimbwa.
Walimbwa also used the same platform to highlight on the current pledges that are currently under progress in the different regions of Bugisu.
The Senior Presidential Advisor on Political Affairs, Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo who is also the coordinator of the Office of the national chairperson [ONC]was the chief guest.
Namyalo assured Ugandans that President Museveni is not going anywhere come 2026 and urged the youths to support President Museveni as the only way their presidential pledges can be full filled.
She also cautioned the Bamasaba to pay attention to moles that are creating conflicts to bar the development of the region.
“The issue that has brought us is to ensure Museveni is not going anywhere because as youths he still owes us, there are those people that are creating political fights to divide the Bamasaba and fail them from enjoying the presidential pledges,” Namyalo said.
The youths received gifts from President Museveni such as sewing machines, hair shavers and dryers to help elevate them from poverty.
The Woman Member of Parliament, Bulambuli District Hon. Eng Irene Muloni Nafuna expressed her gratitude to Hajjat Namalyo’s visit and thanked the president for wishing development of the region through the youths.
