Somali National Army commander Brigadier General Odawaa Yusuf Rageh has been sacked.
The Somali cabinet has today 19th June, 2023 instead approved Brigadier General Ibrahim Sheikh Muhiyadin as his replacement.
Muhiyadin previously was the commander of the Presidential Guards. He studied military logistics in Modena, Italy.
The sacking of Rageh comes amid recent setbacks in the completion of the first face of military operations against al-Shabaab.
