EXCLUSIVE: Busia District Has Two Ghost Health Facilities

The Busia district LCV chairperson Mr. Stephen Mugeni Wasike has in a shocking revelation disclosed that the Auditor General’s report recently identified two ghost health facilities with their staff gazetted on the government payroll.

 

Mugeni says Health facilities are Ramogi HCV and Reign-Gen HCIII which do not exist anywhere in the district, however, have staff fully recruited and ordained on the government payroll.

 

In an interview with our reporter at his office in Busia Municipality, yesterday, 23rd June 2023, Mugeni said he is currently on fact finding mission to establish the individuals that are currently benefiting in the aforementioned non existing health centers and who appointed them including the procedure that was used to put these people on the payroll yet their services are not on ground.

 

Mugeni has disclosed that he is soon submitting a petition to the ministry of public service seeking more answers about the matter.

 

He added that his team will seek to know the details of the ghost staff currently working in the health centers that do not even exist. He says that this has greatly affected service delivery among the genuine health centers across the district and that the culprits must be brought to book.

 

Efforts to get a comment from the District Chief Administrative Officer Mr. Nasser Mukiibi, did not yield any results, information indicated that he is currently out of the country on a pilgrimage mission in Mecca, Saudi Arabia. His deputy was also not readily available while the District Health Officer Mr. Wabwire Panyako’s known telephone contact was not reachable by the time of filing this story.
