BUSIA
The police in Busia district have detained 5 men accused of engaging and recruiting youth in Homosexual activitiies.
Their arrest follows an operation conducted on Monday 3/7/2023 by the local leaders of Eastern Division in Busia municipality at the edge of the border with Kenya after several residents raised concern over their behaviors of bleaching and engaging in same sex activities.
The suspects include Richard Bukenya 20, Fadadhi Kasakya 24, and another one only identified as Bashara aged 26, and other two who are yet to be identified.
The local leaders together, on Monday, first conducted an operation at around 5:30PM in Arubaine village, Eastern division and in the process they caught four of the suspects red handed playing sex in an isolated house within the area.
This prompted residents to take the law in their hands but the leaders were quick to alert security personnel at Sofia Police Post who came and rescued them from the wrath of angry residents.
Asuman Rumani Okia, the area councilor Arubaine North Parish who led the operation disclosed to our reporter that the first four suspects were arrested yesterday in an intelligence led operation while the other one was arrested earlier today 4/7/2023 from his hideout.
He added that the four suspects were also in possession of exhibits which include; grease, oil, perfume, over 50 different national identity cards and other chemicals that they use to even transition from looking as men to women, among them was a suspect who had big buttocks and excessively bleached skin.
According to Asuman, this is not the first time such incidents have been witnessed in the area. Last year, another youthful man was accused of engaging in homosexuality which led to the father to denounce him and demolish his boy’s quarter.
He has therefore called upon fellow leaders to conduct such operations in order to curb this vice in their areas of jurisdiction.
Ayubu Aramanzan, the defense secretary of Mawero B village North C, Eastern division and Musa Guloba Gamusi, another leader, have appealed to fellow leaders and parents to cooperate in order to eliminate the western culture that is overtaking African society.
Efforts to get a comment from the police did not yield any results by the time of filling this story. Busia district police commander said the matter is still under investigation.
