A Uganda Peoples Defence Forces (UPDF) soldier has shot dead a 34 year old civilian at Bukwo over yet to be known reasons.
According to information revealed by police spokesperson of Sipi region, Isaac Oware, Lawrence Sibiwa attached to 51st Infantry Battalion at Bukwo District shot Fred Kwemoi on the night of Sunday, 16th July, 2023.
Oware says the deceased was a resident of Taboswet village, Amanang Parish, Amanang Sub County in Bukwo district.
He adds that the UPDF officer who was guarding Kapchorwa -Bukwo- Suam Road equipment for China State Construction Company exchanged bitter words with the deceased at night while trying to intercept him.
Oware says that Kwemoi died on the way while taking him to Kapchorwa hospital but the suspect has been arrested and currently in UPDF custody.
