The former Executive Director of the Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) has been arrested by officers from the Inspectorate of Government.
In a brief statement issued today 26th July 2023, the office of the IGG confirms the arrest of David Livingstone Ebiru.
Ebiru’s arrest today follows a warrant of arrest issued against him by the IGG on Friday last week after he failed to respond to summons to report to the Inspectorate.
The IGG without divulging details says Ebiru will be arraigned before the Anti-Corruption Court on charges of corruption.
Ebiru seems to have shot himself on the leg when he told the Parliamentary Committee on Commissions, Statutory Authorities and State Enterprises (COSACE) on Wednesday last week that he bribed members of National Standards Council to retain his job.
He is also under investigation on allegations that he misappropriated Shs12.5 billion and that he protected staff under his watch who caused a financial loss of 9.8 billion shillings.
Subsequently, was sent on forced leave and replaced by Daniel Richard Makayi Nangalama.
