The trial of the State Minister for Karamoja Affairs, Agnes Nandutu has kicked off at the Anti-Corruption Court today, 27th July 2023 with the first prosecution witness being her own Political Assistant.
Evelyn Bazibu took to the witness box and told court that her boss, Nandutu called her on phone and told her how she had received 2000 iron sheets from the Minister for Karamoja Affairs, Maria Goretti Kitutu.
Bazibu testified further that Nandutu directed her to drive to Namanve to pick the 2000 iron sheets and take them to her home where they should be kept for two weeks.
Nandutu becomes the first suspect in the Karamoja iron sheets saga to be tried.
Others yet to be tried are her immediate boss, Kitutu, Minister of State for Finance, Amos Lugoolobi, and Office of the Prime Minister officials.
