MANAFWA: Two Health Workers Arrested for Causing Death of Expectant Mother Remanded

Two health workers attached to Bugobero Health Center IV who were arrested last Friday, 1st September, 2023 over death of an expectant mother and her unborn baby have been remanded to Malukhu government Prisons.


The two midwives, Sarah Bulira aged 44 and Sandra Chemusto aged 37 appeared before Mbale Chief Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 6th September, 2023 and were remanded to Malukhu prisons.


The duo is expected back in court next week on Thursday, 14th September,2023 for mention of their case. The duo is accused of a Rush and Negligent Act causing death, a charge they denied.


These two health workers are accused of deliberately refusing to work on Billa Nabiswa the expectant mother who had gone to the facility to give birth over unknown reasons leading to her death with her unborn baby.


According to Rogers Taitika, the Elgon Region Police Spokesperson, the two who had been detained at Manafwa central police station were presented to court yesterday.
