According to Erick Ebono E, a doctor who heads this dialysis unit in Mbale referral hospital, they have been sending 2 to 3 patients every week to Kiruddu or Mulago National Referral Hospital in Kampala for treatment.

He revealed that most affected persons were mothers who after giving birth at times injure their kidneys and also people who over drink alcohol.

He also thanked the team of doctors from Kiruddu Hospital who trained them on how to use the machines.

One of the doctors only known as Daniel from Kiruddu Hospital said that so far most regions of the country are now covered. These include the North, West, and now eastern region is covered, and that this unit will save more people with kidney failures.
