A 28 year old man has been arrested by police for raping a 9 year old girl and later cutting her body into pieces.
Busulwa Sulaiman, a resident of Nazego village, Bunandola parish, Bunyafwa Sub County in Sironko district was arrested on Friday, 8th September, 2023 at his home.
Busulwa carried out the heinous acts of rape and murder in the evening of Thursday 7th September 2023.
According to Felister Nabukwasi, the deceased’s mother, she sent her daughter to a nearby shop in the evening of Thursday but she did not come back home.
She says that the following day, they searched for the girl only to be told by one of the area residents that he had seen the girl with Busulwa the previous evening.
Nabukwasi reported the case to Buteza Police Post prompting the police to swing into action and arrested Busulwa who upon interrogation confessed to raping and later killing the minor.
Busulwa told police that he cut the little girl into pieces and threw the pieces in his pit latrine to kill evidence.
Rogers Taitika, the Elgon Region Police Spokesperson has confirmed the incident saying the suspect is currently detained at Buteza Police Station.
He says that the body parts of the deceased have been collected from the pit latrine and have been taken to Mbale city mortuary for postmortem.
Taitika adds that police recovered posho flour, sugar and pan cakes from the home of the suspect which the deceased had gone to buy.
