MBALE CITY
Cure children’s hospital has organised a massive marathon as a way to raise money and support children born with spina bifida and hydrocephalus.
While speaking to the media during a press conference on Wednesday, 13th September, 2023 at cure children’s hospital located at Mugisu Hill Lane, Industrial city division in Mbale city, Tim Erickson, the executive director said that the marathon has been scheduled for 21st October, 2023.
He said they are partnering with nongovernment organizations, Mbale city business community and the public.
Erickson also says that they want to raise 600 million as their target which is going to support sick children.
He says that many children die from the hospital due to lack of money saying that is the reason why they want to organize the marathon to support those children whose parents can’t afford.
Peter Wanyera, a medical officer at Bufumbo health center III who represented Mbale district health officer (DHO) has urged health centers to refer children related with spina bifida and hydrocephalus complications to cure children’s hospital such that they can be treated.
He adds that many children with such problems are left home claiming that they are bewitched rather than treating them.
