The recruitment process for Presidential skilling programme for Bugisu zone is currently ongoing and the Bamasaaba have been urged to embrace it.
The Bugisu Zonal Presidential Industrial Hub is located in Lukhonge in Mbale district under Presidential skilling programmes.
Philip Woniala, the Manager of Bugisu Zonal Presidential Industrial Hub in an exclusive interview with our reporter over the weekend revealed that recruitment of third intake is ongoing in all the six districts and Mbale City.
The recruitment is slated to end on the first week of October, 2023 and interested candidates should visit their respective Local district government offices or go to the school itself.
The target group is the vulnerable Ugandan youths who are between 18 – 35 years who are school dropouts but interested in skills training.
He added that the entire process right from recruitment, training, feeding and accommodation is totally free as the government through State House has paid for everything.
He added that the Institute offers six months full time training in 8 courses which are: Tailoring, Hairdressing, Carpentry, Welding and mental fabrication, building and construction, Bakery and pastry, Shoe making and Weaving and knitting.
He finally emphasized that this Presidential Initiative aims at skilling youths for jobs and wealth creation as Uganda prepares to join the middle income economy and there are no minimum academic qualifications and each district will select 35 trainees.
