Elgon police has given more details about a notorious thug shot over the weekend by its officers.
Police says the suspected gang leader of the panga-wielding goons who have been attacking residents of Mbale and the metropolitan was killed while resisting arrest.
The suspect according to police identified as Ibra Maboni alias Kadanke, 25 years of age and a resident of Buyonjo cell, Nkoma Ward, Northern City Division in Mbale City has been on its wanted list with others still at large over same charges with different police files.
According to Rogers Taitika, the Elgon Region Police Spokesperson, Maboni was shot dead by police after he tried to resist arrest at Soweto in Busia district where he has been hiding.
The deceased is alleged to have been at the peak of a series of aggravated robberies in Mbale and its surrounding areas and others still at large of at least ten aggravated robbery cases in the Elgon region.
Taitika also says that the body has been taken to Mbale city mortuary for postmortem before giving it to relatives.
