Residents in the two parishes at Buwatuwa Sub County in Namisindwa district are counting losses after heavy rains accompanied with storm destroyed most crops, houses and a primary school on Tuesday night, 3rd October 2023.
The affected parishes are Bunabalayo and Buwatuwa.
According to Sam Kundu, the LC3 chairperson of Buwatuwa Sub County, the most affected villages are Nalukatu and Bunabwana.
He says that two class rooms at Piagate nursery and primary school were blown off leaving children with nowhere to study from.
Kundu added that crops like bananas, coffee, trees were all brought down including ten houses of locals.
Peter Mutambo, one of the affected residents urged the district under the disaster management committee and political leaders to support them with food items since they have nothing to eat.
