The Speaker of the council of Busoba Sub County in Mbale district has suspended three councilors from the council sitting over alleged misconduct registered amongst them.

The councillors that were suspended on Friday 6th October, 2023 include Walufu Sam, councilor representing Bunanimi parish, Magombe John Malulu, representing the Elderly people, Nekambi Rose also representing the Elderly in the same council.

Khaitsa Welikhe Agnes, the speaker of Busoba Sub County says the three councilors were suspended for failing to keep the oath of secrecy, insulting others, disrespect for others, holding illegal meetings, amongst others. She adds that the three councilors have been suspended from attending two consecutive council sittings without allowances.

Meanwhile, Mwiri Obedi, the chairperson LC III of the same sub county said the council meeting was intended to have the three councilors guided on how to conduct themselves. He says this however, didn’t yield as the trio continued showing disrespect for fellow councilors, the speaker, and the chairperson hence being suspended.

Some of the councillors who were suspended from the meeting that our reporter spoke to such as Walufu Sam and Nekambi Rose say they were formerly invited for the meeting but surprisingly they were dismissed without following the rightful procedure. The trio denied all the allegations saying they are baseless.
