NAMISINDWA: 40 People Now Homeless after Deadly Storm Strike

At least 40 peoples in three cells at Bubutu town council in Namisindwa district are homeless after heavy rains with storms blew off their houses.

 

The affected three cells are Busiraka, Bumaina and Buwatiti all located at Bubutu town council.

 

According to Martin Walubenge, one of the affected residents, the heavy rains with a storm came on Monday evening and lasted for two hours.

 

He adds that the storm destroyed over 15 houses, crops like maize, coffee, and trees among others.

 

Sam Wambete, also an affected resident says that he and his five children have taken refuge to neighbors after their house was completely destroyed.

 

He urged government and nongovernmental organizations to support them with items like iron sheets such that they can replace their houses.

 

Moses Mutambo, the LCIII chairperson of Bubutu town council says that they are going to register all affected families and submit a list to the district disaster management team for support.

 

He urged people in his town council to plant more trees such that they can arrest heavy winds to avoid such problems in the future.
