KAPCHORWA
A 43 year old peasant housewife and resident of Waror village, Tegeres Sub County, in Kapchorwa district has been arrested for allegedly murdering her husband.
According to SCP Fred Enanga, Juliet Chelangat killed her husband Namawangala Stephen, aged 40 on the 9th October 2023 after he had stolen her savings and spent it on alcohol.
Enanga says, Chelangat withdrew her savings of Shs200,000 from Kabati village savings group to pay school fees for their children on the 4th of October 2023.
Namawangala however stole the money from where she had kept it on 8th October 2023 and when approached, he promised to pay it back the following day.
On 9th October, Namawangala did not pay back the money prompting a quarrel at about 11:00pm which developed into a fight.
Enanga says the suspect pushed the deceased to the ground where he fell and lost consciousness.
“He died while being rushed to Kapchorwa hospital. The suspect was arrested and detained in custody for murder,” Enanga says.
