NAMISINDWA

Locals of Namwenula Ward, Bumbo Town Council in Namisindwa district have accused some of the Parish Development Model Group Chairpersons are enlisting Kenyan nationals into the Parish Development Model Program (PDM)

This was revealed by the locals on Tuesday, 17th October 2023 when they stormed the home of the area Member of Parliament, Hon. John Musila to air out their grievances.

They accused Moses Situma, the Namwenula Ward Parish Development Model PDM group chairperson for registering Kenyans as beneficiaries of the program leaving out natives.

Bumbo Town Council is one of the Sub Counties in the district neighbouring Kenya.

According to Joshua Watenyeli, one the aggrieved residents, out of 87 names which were registered in this phase II by Situma, 15 are Kenyans which contravenes the law of Uganda.

He adds that they stormed the home of their MP wanting him to intervene into these illegalities but when Situma turned up locals wanted to lynch him.

Peter Busawule and Martin Sitsangi, some of the locals who spoke to this reporter said they want the district PDM Focal Person to cancel or not consider that list.

They say they have evidence that each Kenyan paid Situma some money before he registered them.

John Musila, the area members of parliament representing Bubulo east constituency in Namisindwa district condemned Situma’s act and called upon the office of the RDC and Police to investigate and arrest him.

Julie Namara, the deputy resident district commissioner of  Namisindwa has confirmed the incident saying that they got those allegations last week but they were still investigating.

She adds that this program is for only Ugandans adding that it looks bad if leaders are considering Kenyan residents and leaving natives.

Last week, Imran Mulunga, the Namisindwa Resident District Commissioner asked all parish chiefs and PDM chairpersons to refund all monies they got from beneficiaries before the end of this week or be arrested.
