Police of Elgon region have named two suspects behind the acid attack on the 46 year old Laban Katambi on Saturday night, 28th October 2023.
While speaking to our reporter in an exclusive interview from his office on Monday, Rogers Taitika, the Elgon Region Police Spokesperson said the suspects are Katambi’s brothers identified as Welikhe and Fred.
It is said that on Saturday, Welikhe and Fred ambushed their brother, Katambi from Masaaka village, Namabya Sub County and burnt him with acid over land and house wrangles.
Katambi is currently nursing serious injuries at Mbale regional referral hospital in a critical condition.
Taitika says that the two brothers who were behind the crime are currently on the run but that police is aggressively looking for them.
He adds that when arrested, the duo shall be taken to court and answer charges of attempt murder.
Taitika urged other locals to always use LC1’s and police near them to report any case other than taking laws in their hands.
