BREAKING: Uganda’s Former CID Boss, John Chris Bakiza Dies

Reports filtering in indicate that the former Uganda Police Force director of Criminal Investigations Directorate, John Chris Bakiza, has died.

 

At the time of his reported death, Bakiza was a constitutional law specialist as well as an external examiner at LDC.

 

A former director of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), Bakiza joined police in 1980, one of the first 26 graduate cadet officers. He joined with John Cossy Odomel, a retired IGP.

 

Bakiza joined on the same day with Gen David Tinyefuza, Jim Muhwezi and Elizabeth Muwanga.

 

Bakiza and Odomel were the student cadet leaders of the squad at the Police Academy in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. On returning to Uganda, he served in various positions at the Central Police Station (CPS), Kampala, Katwe, and Moroto, from where he joined CID headquarters, then at Impala House, in 1984.

 

He joined as a CID detective Assistant Superintendent of Police. Served as OC/CID Bank of Uganda exchange for three years until 1990. In 1990, was promoted to the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police to head the Directorate of Legal Services at the parliamentary building, the former police headquarters in Kampala.

 

In 1992 to 1996, He became director of Administration and Finance, then Director Operations and in 1997 to 1999, he was the director CID headquarters Kampala.

 

He retired in 2000 to private a law firm; Bakiza and Company Advocates.
