IGANGA
A 35 year old man only identified as Kavuma lost his life on Sunday, 19th November, 2023 when he got electrocuted after placing a metallic pole on an electric line during construction of the second floor of a building at Saaza road in Iganga municipality.
According to eyewitnesses, the deceased left his residential area in Jinja in the morning to come and finish the work he just got two days back from a friend.
Diana Nandawula, the Busoga East Police spokesperson confirmed the incident noting that investigations into the matter are ongoing.
The Iganga Resident District Commissioner, Sadala Wandera urged engineers and owners of buildings to always follow protective measures during the construction process.
Wandera said that he will engage the technical people for more details regarding this new building.
Police detectives and UMEME engineers have since inspected the scene of crime and the deceased’s body was later taken to Iganga hospital’s mortuary, awaiting postmortem.
