On the top secret expedition that took place on 17th and 18th November, 2023 Mr Wine was accompanied by his right-hand man and NUP Secretary General, David Lewis Rubongoya who physically supervised the election of the new team in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

The process which took place exclusively out of the camera saw Ms. Rebecca Naava elected to lead the Netjerlands- Belgium chapter while Kwiikitiza Bruce will deputise her as Vice Chairperson.

Hadijah Nakiyinji was elected General Secretary while Geoffrey Katumba and Fred Musoke are the new treasurer and Publicity Secretary respectively. Mr Jonah Kayizi will be the party mobiliser according to the new announcements.

The same occasion saw renowned human rights activist, Dr Nico Schoonderwoerd confirmed as the party’s Ambassador to the European Union region while Mr Kitunzi Robert becomes the overall NUP leader in Europe.

The Secretariat was only tasked to supervise the election to the positions mandated by the Party Constitution, ie, Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, General Secretary, Treasurer and Publicity Secretary. The election of the mobiliser was also done under the supervision of the visiting team from Kampala but on request.

The new leadership was tasked to arrange for the election of a few more leaders to beef up the team as they deem fit at a date set by themselves.

A directive was issued by Bobi Wine for the closure of all the existing NUP/ People Power Whatsapp groups and a new one to be opened for the Netherlands Belgium Chapter.

The new leadership hailed the President and his team for responding to the cardinal duty of erecting structures which will effectively empower their activism in the diaspora.

“We want to appreciate the members for entrusting us with these responsibilities and we appeal for a chance and support as we work towards the achievement of party objectives. We very much call for unity and reconciliation,” said Hadijjah Nakiyingi as she pledged to return the chapter to its original vibrancy.

Bruce Kwiikiriza described the new responsibilities as “a call for enhanced hard work” and promised to be available at all times whenever duty calls.
