SIRONKO
Florence Nambozo Mayoga, the Sironko District Woman Member of Parliament has declared her plans of vying for the position of Sironko district National Resistance Movement (NRM) chairperson.
NRM last week unveiled its internal elections’ roadmap for lower party structures from village to the district level.
NRM Electoral Commission Chairman, Tanga Odoi said that no academic qualifications are required for candidates to participate in the elections.
Nambozo revealed her intentions over the weekend while participating in a radio talk show in one of the Radio Stations in Mbale city.
This means that Nambozo will take on Hajji Suleiman Mafabi Lumolo the current NRM Chairperson for Sironko District.
According to Nambozo, the decision stems from some elements that have tarnished her name claiming that she defected to the opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC).
Nambozo says she stood as an independent candidate but NRM leaning and is now ready to take charge of the affairs of the party in Sironko District.
Nambozo was beaten in NRM party primary elections for Sironko district woman MP NRM flag bearer by Asha Nabulo Mafabi, a daughter to Suleiman Lumolo which made her suspicious that the Party elections were not free and fair.
Nambozo bounced back as an independent candidate and won the Sironko district Woman Parliament during 2021 elections but remains saying she is an NRM member in Sironko.
