Police in Sironko district are hunting for a 45 year old man over an allegation of attempted rape.
The suspect is identified as Godffrey Gooza, a resident of Busitayo village, Bulujewa parish, Namaguli Sub County in Sironko district.
According to the victim’s husband and also neighbour to Gooza, his wife Annet Nagudi aged 22 had earlier done weeding at the suspect’s garden last and was demanding him Shs3,000.
He was supposed to pay her 3,000/= so he told to go and pick money from his home on Friday, 1st December. When Nagudi reached his home, he forcefully grabbed her and attempted to rape her. He was however, overpowered by the victim who ran away for her dear life although she sustained some injuries in the process.
Isaac Gidudu, the LCI chairperson of Busitayo village confirmed the incident saying the victim is currently at Budadiri receiving treatment after getting injuries during the fight.
He adds that the case was filed at Masaba police station under case number 02/28/11/2023 and police are hunting for Gooza who is on the run.
Rogers Taitika, the Elgon region police spokesperson has confirmed the incident saying once arrested, he will answer charges of attempted rape.
