SIRONKO
Alex Nabende Guga, the NRM flag bearer for Sironko District, has officially announced his candidacy for the position of Sironko NRM Chairperson.
Nabende, who narrowly lost the Sironko LCV seat to David Giruli Livingston of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), believes that the party’s division has had a significant impact on political mobilization.
Nabende who spoke to this website on Tuesday 5th December, 2023, claims that the confusion within the party leadership led to the loss of all three parliamentary slots in the district.
Nabende is not alone in his bid for the NRM Chairperson position. Sironko District Woman MP, Nambozo Florence Mayoga declared her interest last month, setting the stage for a competitive race.
The incumbent, Alhaji Sulaiman Mafabi Lumolo, will also be vying for re-election.
The NRM electoral roadmap, released by Party Electoral Commission Chairman Dr. Tanga Odoi, outlines that structural elections will begin on March 14, 2024, with the final election of the district executive taking place on 1st April, 2024.
