MBALE CITY
Mbale city council has suspended three main private tax collection companies for failing to remit money to the City Council Account.
The three private tax collection companies that had their contracts ceased on Tuesday, 2nd January, 2024 are Mid-Link responsible for collecting money for street parking, Mbale truck drivers SACCO which collected loading and off loading money and Odo Waiswa who collects money from advertisement and marketing.
While speaking to our reporter during an exclusive interview on phone, James Kutosi, the Mbale city communication officer says that the three companies were suspended by council.
He also says that the Mbale city council suspension of the three follows none remittance of money collected to the city council account.
Kutosi also says that they are going to investigate these companies and if it’s found that they have been abusing the money, they will be stopped and face law.
Members of the public have been put on notice not to pay street parking, loading, offloading, and advertising revenue to Medlink Contractors, Mbale City Trucks Drivers’ Association, and Oddo Jalilu Waiswa respectively.
